Worship Associates

Worship Associates are integral to worship at West Shore, working closely with the minister to help craft worship services and occasionally lead a service of their own creation. Liturgy means “the people’s work.” It is the task of the worship associate to bring the voice of the congregation into the worship service. Worship Associates serve as liturgists, helping to shape the message and mood of the service.

Becoming a Worship Associate

Worship Associates meet monthly to review past services, look ahead at future ones, and reflect on larger questions and issues. Individual worship associates meet with the minister about a week in advance of the service to discuss their role in the service.

If you have been a West Shore member for at least two years and would like to apply to serve as a Worship Associate, contact Rev. Makar.  New Worship Associates are added to the team each year, and normally serve for two years.

Helping Hands

Helping Hands provides a new opportunity for church members to offer assistance to other members who need help with a one-time task. This booklet contains a list of services which members are willing to provide, along with their names and contact information.   If you need one of the services being offered, contact someone on the list who lives in or near your zip code.  If they are not able to help, try someone else on the list.  Sometimes no one will be available.  This is a “member to member” service, with members interacting directly with each other, with no involvement of staff or church leaders.

If you have questions, contact Chris Baumhauer at or Anne Osborne at We are still accepting volunteers. If you would like to sign up to offer one or more services, click here.
