B. Neil Davis Artist Series

Considering Matthew Shepard is a powerful and deeply moving oratorio composed by Craig Hella Johnson, inspired by the tragic and horrific 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard, a 21-year-old gay college student in Laramie, Wyoming. This transformative work is both a memorial and a call to compassion, exploring not only the events surrounding Matthew’s death but also the wider human themes of hope, empathy, and reconciliation.

Musical Arts Society

The 2006-2007 church year was the final year for B. Neil Davis to lead the choral program at West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church. Being widely known for his choral activities throughout his career, it was very fitting to honor his last year with a concert series of exception choral music. With its overwhelming success, West Shore decided to continue this tradition and name the series in Neil’s honor.

Each year, the B. Neil Davis Artists Series presents a number of musical events dedicated to exceptional choral and instrumental music involving not only our own West Shore Choir but many other guest musicians from the Cleveland Metropolitan area. We invite you to experience these musical events throughout the year that strive to offer a most diverse series of programs which should provide entertainment and enjoyment to people of all ages. All concerts are free and open to the public.

We created the Musical Arts Society as a means to raise annual funds to cover the costs associated with these concerts.  Our annual church budget provides the stability for our regular programs of music purchase, instrument maintenance and guest musicians for our Sunday worship but our Artists Series is above and beyond. To show your support for this program, become a member of the Musical Arts Society. For more information, contact David Blazer, Director of Music, at 440-333-2255 ext. 114.

This is an annual gift. The monies generated each year cover the cost of concerts performed during the present church year, so each year we ask for your continued support.  Your names will be listed in each of our concert programs.
